C.H. Robinson
CH Robinson proposed a unique challenge space to our team that revolved around core fundamentals of User Experience:
Redesign the current internal time tracking application by increasing participation of users, reducing administrative tasks, and producing more accurate data from the time tracking application.
These objectives all needed to fit within the current back end that CH Robinson has set up. I specifically had a hand in the design of the prototype, led usability tests, and served as a technologist resource.
User Interviews - Gather Information
We went directly to end users that see the application day to day to better understand how they interact with the software. We interviewed many different types of end users and administrators. This allowed us to more fully understand how people interacted with the current applications and their expectations from the system.

In addition to users, we also talked with system administrators who gave us feedback and hard constraints on the databases which translated into how we implemented features and UI elements.

Group Whiteboard
Many users were very passionate about the time tracking application and how improvements could be made. We harnessed this energy by leading a directed group whiteboarding session to generate and collect visual feedback side-by-side with end users.

Synthesis - Generate Solutions
Affinity Diagramming was our main tool to unpack a large amount of data we gathered from our research. We grouped data points by physical area in the prototype to create talking points together to better observe patterns.

Sprint Schedule
During the majority of our project at CH Robinson, we followed a rigorous recursive process.

Reflection

Reflection
My time with CH Robinson taught me the importance of synthesizing data from research. The amount of research that a UX team can get can be very small compared to the number of users proportionally. Make use of what your situation gives you and leverage it. Your product and research will be that much more valuable.
